Composites and Heterogeneous Materials Technical Committee Meeting at ASME IMECE 2023
Date: Monday, October 30 2023
Time: 6:00 - 7:00 PM
Room: 383 (at the convention center)
Nomination deadline extended to October 18, 2023. For this year, the travel awards are not limited to students at institutions in the USA.
The Applied Mechanics Executive Committee (AMD-EC) is pleased to announce the 2023 IMECE student travel award competition, which is sponsored by the Haythornthwaite Foundation*.
The workshop is approaching. This is to remind you that those of you or of your colleagues, who would be interested in the latest enhancement of the FKM Guideline for static and fatigue analysis in the direction of non-linear analysis (encompassing both high-cycle and low-cycle fatigue regimes), should apply to the workshop we organize.
Workshop on Computational Fatigue Analysis 2023 - FKM-Guideline Non-Linear
Location: Prague, Czechia
When: October 30 - November 1, 2023
From October 30 to November 1, 2023, we hold 11th Workshop on Computational Fatigue Analysis in Prague, Czechia. This time, we chose the attractive topic of the latest extension of the FKM-Guideline for Analytical Strength Assessment. This guideline developed for years by FKM Association in Germany provides clear description how to deal with static and fatigue analysis of industrial components.
I wanted to call your attention to a session "Beyond Elasticity: Inelastic Deformations in Soft Matter" at the American Physical Society 2024 March meeting in Minneapolis, USA. Full description below. Please also forward to colleagues conducting research in similar areas.
---------------------------------------
This symposium is focused on advancements in the research, development, analysis, application, and manufacturing of composite, multifunctional, and hybrid materials. The scope includes experimental techniques; materials characterization; manufacturing, assembly, and repair; theoretical and numerical modeling; failure mechanisms and detection; and novel application development for these materials. A primary goal of the symposium is for participants to exchange ideas and promote collaboration to resolve fundamental and application problems.
We are organizing a Focus Topic "Statistical Physics in Constitutive Modeling" for the upcoming 2024 March Meeting of the American Physical Society (https://march.aps.org/). Please consider contributing an abstract once submissions open on August 31, and find the description below. This will be a exciting opportunity to connect with fellow reseachers in this area and discuss recent work. Questions to mrbuche [at] sandia.gov (mrbuche[at]sandia[dot]gov).
Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to announce that the 8th International Conference on Computational and Mathematical Biomedical Engineering (CMBE24) will take place between 24th and 26th June 2024 at the Van Metre Hall, George Mason University, Arlington, Virginia, United States. Further details on the conference may be obtained by following the link: http://www.compbiomed.net/.

Dear Fellow Mechanicians,
We are excited to announce that the Society for Natural Philosophy, originally founded by Clifford Truesdell in 1963, will hold its annual meeting in Paris from October 16 to 18, 2023. The Society is devoted to the unity of the mathematical and physical sciences, and this year's conference will particularly focus on the following topics:
Mechanical Metamaterials (ASME IMECE 2023)
Topic 04-03 (Materials) or Topic 12-07 (Applied Mechanics)
