I am seeking a PhD student to work on the design and modeling of morphing solids and shells. The position is fully funded and is available at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Applicants will have a BS or an MS or an Engineering degree in a relevant area (Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Physics or Applied Mathematics). Knowledge of Python, Matlab and of an FEA software (e.g., Ansys) is a plus.
A summer internship position is available in Joint academic-industrial project between Nordisch LLC and Michigan State University. We seeks to improve the understanding of the constitutive behavior of soft materials in extreme conditions. In particular, this is important for evaluating the long-term performance of soft materials that are used as critical components in various systems.
I am looking for a PhD candidate who will be sponsered by my Institute to work in the area of fracture mechanics.
ABAQUS experience would be an advantage and concepts in fracture mechanics and finite elements will be desirable.
If you are interested to work in this area at Indian Institute of Technology Ropar in Metallurgical and Materials Engg. department, please dont hesitate to contact me at abhishek.tiwari [at] iitrpr.ac.in
We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student to work on Computational Solid Mechanics, with focus on Cell Adhesion and Mechanobiology. The project is in collaboration with experimental biologists and biophysicists located at UBC and other international laboratories. It will involve the use analytical tools in Continuum Mechanics and Thermodynamics (e.g. Statistical Mechanics), and computational tools such as Finite Element Analysis. The goal will be to derive important scaling laws to understand the mechanical behavior of Biological Cells under different processes such as Motility, Differentiation and Mitosis.
1 funded PhD position is available immediately. The research is on computational mechanics and materials relating to nuclear materials, energy storage materials, biomaterials, and composite materials. Temple University is located in Philadelphia, the sixth-most populous U.S. city, about 2 hours from New York City and 3 hours from Washington DC. Temple University is ranked 103 by US News. Interested candidates please send CV, transcripts and standard test scores to ling.liu [at] temple.edu
Open PhD positions are available in the RAD Lab , in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). The research will involve multiscale computational modeling of complex fluids and soft matters with particular emphasis on biological flows of active matter in the living systems and particle-laden multiphase flows. The desired start date is Spring 2021.
