I'm working on UEL and recently I've developed a shell element. To define an element in input file, I'm using counter-clockwise rotation for nodes. When it's just one element everything is good.

what is the exponential curve used in ABAQUS to model the softening (damage evolution) for cohesive interaction? Reading the documentation, I find the equation for D (damage variable) in linear and exponential cases. But the exponetial curve is not given there (maybe it is not given explicitly).

My work is related to creep in ceramics. Often I find the relation between the creep strain rate and stress as:
creep_strain_rate = constant x stress x other_factors (1)
In this paper, we investigate the formation of band-gaps and localisation phenomena in an elastic strip nearly disintegrated by an array of transverse cracks. We analyse the eigenfrequencies of finite, strongly damaged, elongated solids with reference to the propagation bands of an infinite strip with a periodic damage.

For test reasons of abaqus work, I have defined my material properties (stress-strain behaviour) up to strains of 15! However, even in this condition some of my elements reaches this strain value and distorted. I want to know which calculation the abaqus software is using to report a distortion error?
Actually can we define our material behaviour in a way that, it would not distorted at all?
