Multiple postdoc and PhD positions are open at Tsinghua University to investigate debris flow and sediment transport in fluvial and coastal environments through a multiscale approach integrating experiments, simulations, and theory. The research will take place at Tsinghua University’s Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS), located in Shenzhen, China, and is partly sponsored by NSFC and Tsinghua SIGS’s scientific research startup funds.

Special Issue "The Physics of Joining and Additive Manufacturing"

2 funded PhD positions on modelling of additive manufacturing are available at CEMEF, MINES Paris, France.  One position focuses on the coupling work between grain growth and anisotropic mechanical behavior during process simulation, another one aims to predict the evolution of the distribution of precipitates according to the local thermal history of the material. PhD positions are available at the University of Minnesota in the group of Prof. Stefano Gonella. The positions are in the general area of mechanics and physics of solids, with emphasis on mechanical and elastic metamaterials, architected solids and wave physics. Current topics of interest include: Topological metamaterials; Tunable and programmable metastructures; Mechanics of cellular multilayer materials; Multiphysical interactions of vibrating metastructures.

S-Lab (https://sites.ji.sjtu.edu.cn/jaehyungju/) is looking for a highly qualified postdoc to work in mechanical metamaterials, 4D printing, and soft robotics. The ideal candidate will conduct independent and supervised research, perform tasks on experimental, theoretical, and modeling/simulation projects, write reports, submit deliverables to sponsors, publish papers, lead collaborative projects, and supervise graduate and undergraduate students and proposal preparation.
