It
should be banned. NO to Fracking

During
a visit to Ales a region in southern France, The former President of France
Nicolas Sarkozy maintained the ban on fracking of shale gas until a better
technology that will not harm the ecosystem and destroy the landscape
(Bloomberg BusinessWeek).

The
process of fracking (extraction) and one of the major components of Shale Gas

Better Processor for Mech Engg softwares???

Submitted by amitshah3333 on

Hi,

I want to run engineering softwares like solidworks, ansys, ls-dyna, hypermesh etc on desktop pc.

I am planning to assemble a pc for it. Can anyone suggest better processor? I am stuck between AMD fx8150, Intel's I7 2600k and I7 3770 processor.

Which one of above or any equivalent (in same budget) will be better?

Thankyou,

Topic 24: Safety in Hydropower

Submitted by RossWinter on

The biggest disaster in terms of fatalities in the energy industry was the 1975 Banqiao Dam failure in China which killed over 170,000 people. However this is not the only hydroelectric dam failure which has cause loss of life and major damage in the surrounding area. The accidents in this sector are rare but when something does go wrong then the consequences are usually fatal. Planners need to take a lot of geological and environmental issues into account when they plan building new hydroelectric plants but sometimes the events can’t be predicted.
