The 2013 Timoshenko Medal paper "Completion and Closure on Failure Criteria for Unidirectional Fiber Composite Materials " by Professor Richard Christensen from Stanford University is published in the Journal of Applied Mechanics in its January issue, 2014.  Professor Christensen will receive the ASME Timoshenko Medal at the IMECE conference in San Diego, CA, in November, 2013.

 You will perform research and development work using active/passive vibration control measures to reduce vibration of typical offshore structures. You will also develop new

numerical models, new control algorithm, optimize the locations of actuator/sensors.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Lamar University is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral/research associate position, which is available immediately. Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. degree with a strong record of journal publications. Research areas in one of the following areas are considered.

1) Solid mechanics: multi-scale/ multi-physics modeling of advanced materials, computational mechanics for materials, structures and energy systems in extreme environments. Knowledge of molecular dynamics modeling of polymer materials is a plus.
