   I have been attracted recently by a theory from Shrimali and Lopez-Pamies which is based on experimental evidence obtained from Suo's group in Harvard in 2012 in a (limited, but significant) set of experiments on rubber.   The theory assumes that the stretch to nucleating a crack is constant and independent on stretch rate.  The theory is then built on that, to predict the increase of fracture energy with rate.

I would like to share our recent paper "Delayed detached eddy simulation-based aerothermoelastic analysis of deployable control fin in supersonic and hypersonic flows" published in Physics of Fluids. In this paper we study the stability and mechanics of a deployable control fin in supersonic and hypersonic flows accounting for fluid-structure interactions and joint freeplay nonlinearity. 

The Biomechanics Lab in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at Marquette University and Medical College of Wisconsin is recruiting Postdoctoral Research Associates to work on biomechanics and biomedical engineering research. The successful candidates will work on and contribute to ongoing research that solves problems related to the cardiovascular and brain by developing multiscale/multiphysics computational models as well as publish peer-reviewed journal papers.

 One fully funded Ph.D. position will be available either in Spring or Fall of 2024 at the Computational Soft Matter Lab, situated at the New Jersey Institute of Technology ((https://mie.njit.edu/). The  primary goal of this research project is to employ multiscale modeling and innovative simulation methods to explore the interactions of soft materials with interfaces and surfaces.
