Postdoctoral Position in Applied Mechanics

Submitted by smuftu on

<p>A post-doctoral position in the general area of continuum simulations of high-strain rate impact phenomena is available in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Northeastern University. The specific goal of the project is to investigate the mechanics of cohesion following high velocity impacts. Knowledge of finite element theory, contact mechanics, plasticity and cohesive zone using customized codes and Abaqus are required. Experience with writing own finite element codes, Abaqus user subroutines and Python code will be helpful for the position.

Assistant or untenured Associate Professor - Stanford University

Submitted by StanfordEE on

The Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University (http://ee.stanford.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment at the junior level (Assistant or untenured Associate Professor) in the broadly defined field of electrical and computer engineering. The department is especially interested in candidates in robotics and autonomous systems, hardware systems, and embedded systems. Priority, however, will be given to the overall originality and promise of the candidate’s work over any specific area of specialization.

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computational Neuroscience (but embedded in a mechanics group)

Submitted by rkraft on

I realize this is a bit off topic from traditional iMechania job posts, however our group is primarily a computational biomechanics group. We conduct much research in the area of brain biomechanics and more recently are working to move into multiphysics and multiscale areas of brain science. This project, funded by the NIH Brain Initiative, focuses on growth and bioelectric simulations of neuronal cell networks.

Opening for a new Master student in the Computational Mechanics group, Georgia Southern University

Submitted by Xuchun Ren on

The Computational Mechanics group at Georgia Southern University, led by Dr. Xuchun Ren, is looking for a new Research Assistant, who are capable of and interested in performing high-quality research on engineering design. The research, supported by  U.S. National Science Foundation and Startup Funding, entails building a solid mathematical foundation, devising efficient numerical algorithms, and developing practical computational tools for stochastic topology optimization.

2 Open Marie Skłodowska-Curie PhD Positions at INSA de Rennes

Submitted by Hjiaj on

The Structural Engineering Research Group at INSA de Rennes / LGCGM invites applications to fill two PhD Positions within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie ITN XP-Resilience. The positions are offered to Early Stage Researchers (ESRs).

The XP-RESILIENCEnetwork offers a unique opportunity to Early Stage Researchers to investigate various topics related to Structural Resilience and receive multi-disciplinary training from high-profile academics and top Engineers/Managers from industry. XP-RESILIENCE intends to establish a network of individual research projects working towards Advanced Modelling and Protection –via metamaterial-based isolators/layouts- of Complex Engineering Systems for Disaster Reduction and Resilient Communities. The objective of XP-RESILIENCE is to deliver high-quality training to ESRs including a strong theoretical basis in reliability/resilience with practical experiences, technological expertise with awareness of the socio-economical context and conviction to furthering research with an entrepreneurial spirit. It aims at offering innovative research training ground as well as attractive career development and knowledge exchange opportunities for 14 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) through cross-border and cross-sector mobility for future growth in Europe.

2 Postdoctoral positions in aortic biomechanics and fluid dynamics at University of California at San Francisco Medical Center and San Francisco VA

Submitted by elainetseng on

The Cardiac Biomechanics Laboratory at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center (UCSF) Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and San Francisco VA Medical Center is seeking a hard working, motivated post-doctoral fellow to participate in biomedical engineering research involving the ascending thoracic aortic aneurysms (aTAA).  The post-doctoral fellow should be motivated to be on a career track to become an academic professor.  Our lab is NIH funded to investigate the biomechanics of aortic aneurysms and currently has 1 postdoctoral fellow, and are seeking 2
